Requiem for Google Wave

Alas, Google Wave is no more. Though users will be able to log in to the collaboration application until the end of the year, the search engine behemoth is no longer developing it, due to the fact that it “has not seen the user adoption we would have liked,” according to a post on Google’s official blog.
Users were able to use a variety of media applications to work together on projects, and invitation codes were so sought after that they were being sold on E-bay. Now it appears that users who paid a princely sum for those codes will have spent that money for naught, as the application prepares to go the way of analog television.
Essentially, Google Wave didn’t catch on in the manner that Google would have liked, and they apparently determined that it was no longer with the developmental resources. It will be interesting to see who picks up the slack.
