Seeing is believing

“Tennesseeing is Tennebelieving” may be the tourism motto in some parts of Tennessee, but Chattanooga has made a claim that may to some may be dubious at best.

As of yesterday, Internet connectivity in the city is allegedly one-gigabit-per-second, whether upload or download. The city says that this is, on average, 250 times faster than the connectivity in any other U.S. city. Such connectivity will come at a price, though; the power company will be providing the connection, and will set customers back $350 a month.

Although the price point will cause appeal to be mostly in the business arena, it is available to private consumers, as well. If you’ve got the money, honey, they’ve got your disease, if your “disease” is fast, fast, fast speed, and if their claims are accurate.

One possibly telling sign: the city’s mayor won’t even order the service.
