Death warrant signed for Bloglines

The death warrant has been signed for the popular RSS website Bloglines, which will cease to exist on October 1. Operated by the same team that brings you Ask.com, the advent of social networking sites apparently did the site in.

Bloglines made keeping up with blog feeds easier by sending “feeds” to subscribers, who would sign up for updates from the blogs that interested them most, and which used the RSS protocol, a system that makes reading posts from numerous blogs all in one place a breeze.

All is not lost if you wish to continue keeping up with your blogs via RSS: you have until the first of the month to export your feeds, and then import them to another service such as Google’s Reader service.
