Apple has a solution

Apple has come up with a solution to at least one of the problems that’s been plaguing the iPhone 4: free cases, to eliminate the reception problems due to apparently poor antenna design.
At a press conference held today, Apple finally admitted that, yes, there is a problem, and that they intended to address the issue. In addition to the free case, or “bumper,” a software update will be coming out that will address the reception issue. Those who have purchased a phone or will purchase a phone through the end of September will get the free bumper, or if they’ve already purchased one, they’ll get a refund.
Details will be forthcoming as to how customers can obtain their bumper or refund.
